Hey Mick , New Croc sighting

Postby dawallace45 » Wed May 02, 2012 7:34 pm

New Croc sighting near Maryborough , this time confirmed by the rangers and caught on film

There are quite a few sightings around the area from time to time but it's generally not considered real unless the croc is seen by at least two rangers , being seen by 50 fishermen isn't considered good enough , most people who sight crocs don't even bother to report them any more

Bob

It's illegal to shoot them , they are protected but it is government policy to remove and relocate all croc's found south of the Boyne river which is about 25 minutes north of me , unfortunately when a croc is reported they don't try too hard to find it and prefer to just pretend it was a false sighting

Jack

Sure aren't all that certain about moving to your area , they way your going your going to end up with less freedom than us

G'day Dave,

I just got back on line.

I have been a little bemused by all the media hysteria over this crock. I reckon he has probably been there or at least in the Mary River system for a very long time. he has never bothered anybody that I am aware of and just gone about his business of being a crock. Nobody swims in the Mary (salt water section) anyway.

What really worries me is it proliferation of large whaler, or bull sharks in the rivers round here. These buggers are proven man eaters and there are thousands of them in the Burrum and Mary river systems, yet there is not a peep in the media about them. I have been paddling and fishing the rivers round here since 1982 and have never seen a crock or even signs of them in the mud. I see big sharks nearly every time I go paddling now.

end of rant, sorry.
Now, I'm not saying we invoke capital punishment for Stupidity. But how about we just take all the warning labels off everything, and let nature sort itself out?"
