I'm afraid you are right on that, Mick. In fact, we're paying a price right now.

In addition to the usual causes cited (overly generous benefit and retirement packages, worker and environmental regulations and higher wages), our federal tax code encourages corporations to manufacture overseas. A huge number of our Congressmen and Senators are totally beholden to their big money contributors. Unfortunately, too many of our voters are so focused on hot button social issues that probably shouldn't even be in the political arena that they elect people who are working against their own interests on the really important matters. It will probably take a meltdown to change the system.

Interesting article in the paper saying how some manufacturing is shifting back to the states. The high volume, high labor products are still staying in China or shifting back to Mexico.

But the automated and higher skill work is coming back to the states.

U.S. companies are finally seeing the issues with shipping, engineering changes, and overall quality. They are seeing sometimes made in locally is cheaper in the long run.

I know some of my relatives who work too much without enough vacation,they are becoming old in their early age. I also work a long time in a week but it is mixed with recreation and fun really
