You're like me, Russ. With concentration and dedication, I can finish a 6 week project in a year or two. :o

Russell, i hang my coat on a chair around here and my wife will hang it in a closet. She won't tell me WHICH closet. And there's usually a little scolding that goes along with it.

I just re-read that. My wife's the same way. Sometimes, just for fun, I will leave something out of place just to see how long it takes her to stash it somewhere.

Pictures a little blurry.

One thing I have learned is that I really don't like varnishing. Unfortunately, I've still got the bottom to do. God help me. :?

Russ, am I understanding you correctly - are you planning to varnish the bottom? Varnish is quite soft, and probably won't wear well on the bottom. Epoxy will last much longer.

Bottom's already glassed and epoxied. Varnish will be purely a UV protectant.

OK, you can do that, but it's likely a waste unless you plan to store it upside down in the sun - which isn't a really good idea in the first place.

First coat of varnish on in <20 minutes. Wow, what a difference a roller makes. Rolled then tipped. I'm happy.

Thanks. I used luan which only had one finished side. I put that side out. The other side was not completely uniform, had some patches. After I glassed the inside, I painted it with Pettit Marine Paint Shipendec (got it on sale from West Marine), color 3303 - Dull Dead Grass.

Here's a picture when I was testing the paint. You can see some of the patches in the outer (interior) verneer.

One of the benefits of building your own boat is the scheduling flexibility.
