Whitewater canoe saddle

Postby Hydrophillic » Mon Jul 25, 2011 8:28 pm

Has anyone ever tried a canoe saddle in their Pirogue?

I have found my boat travels faster when I get up on my knees but would be painful on long distances without some support. I like my bucket seat but I think it might be easier to go to a standing position from a kneel.

Hydro, the saddle is more of a whitewater thing, I think? Most geezers on here avoid that stuff. As you do it and learn more, please share with us?

"Buildind Your Own Kevlar Canoe" has some instructions on how to build one. There's got to be other sources out there.

There are pages and pages about them on Google.

Sorry guys for not staying up your responses. I agree, Matt ,their should be alot more about but like your link. I worked out some of the dimensions. No wider than 8 1/2" and should run under thwart to thwart. I have figured basically a long narrow hinged box with foam on the top and a back rest on the rear.
