A Real, By-Golly Simmering Stove

Postby islandpiper » Sat Dec 31, 2011 6:04 pm

The question always arises among alcohol stove users, "What about simmering?" Well, here's the answer. It is an alcohol stove used under a water filled glue pot in violin shops. The wick adjusts up and down with the knob, from a pretty nice flare to just sputtering blue glow. It is the same size as a Trangia and will fit in the Trangia type fixtures. piper

Piper San, is there a violin shop store where non-fiddle makers can buy this stuff? Inquiring minds want to know.

I've never seen one like this listed anyplace. I think this one may be about my age, which is getting closer to your age every year. I got it from an old violinmaker a looooong time ago. piper

OUCH! And - they didn't even offer to double the order if I just paid extra shipping and handling. (No operators standing by, either, I noticed. Shoddy! )
Surely, Joey's folded aluminum foil is close enough for guvmint werk.
