    New with lots of ????

Hello and welcome. You will have lots-o-fun with the UJ Pirouge. Great bonding experience and the boys will definitely learn about safely using some tools. Check out posts by Seedtick on ribs, I "Stretched" the ribs on my "Kit" project, "Pirogue X Two",(Bayou Skiff Lite) and after I did all...

    My Strip Pirogue

Well, it is such a pretty boat, it at least makes it easy to look at while you are at the "doit agin BK" stage. Did you find the side flexed during use or just when getting up and out of the boat? If it is the later, you could try an "assist" rope up in the bow. I did that in my little boat...

    My Strip Pirogue

Man O' Man, that sure turned out pretty. How do you get away with no ribs or thwarts? To get the rounded chine, did you sand through the sides into that chine log inside or was that put in after. I wish you had some photos of the stations and strongback set-up. Really nice way you did that...

    curved stem

I for one appreciate the tutorial, and like the man said, he doesn't build stitch and glue boats, so how ya'll do it with that kind of construction doesn't really apply to this post. Thank you for the lesson Seedtick, and for you folks that don't want to do it that way,..don't

    My Strip Pirogue

Ah ha... I am beginning to see 'da light. Looking at it again, I see this is basically a flat panel boat. With all that pretty wood and the curved stems, I guess I couldn't see the forest, for the trees. The bead and cove joint between the strips must make a stronger joint I would think, or why...

    My Strip Pirogue

I looked up what "Bead and Cove" is, saw a little video from the Rockler Co.( http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=18920) Pretty neat, but if you don't mind sharing, how do you clamp and glue the strips together? Did you use moulds or frames on the strong back you mentioned, or just a couple...

    My Strip Pirogue

Like Chuck said, the curved stems look really nice. Seedtick once offered a tutorial on how to do that, but I missed it, or he hasn't done it yet. Can you tell us the dimensions, rocker? How did you prepare the strips? Great looking boat.

The Dugout canoes of Crusoe Island

A little different than the way Seedtick and Keith showed us with theirs, but alot of similarities also it seemed.

    low water short trip

Looks like custom grips on your pellet popper. My 1377 has plastic grips, I was gonna try my hand at making some, because the guys that make them custom, want what they are worth. Imagine that.

    A New Marsh Pirogue

Keith and Seedtick, thanks for the great post. You truly spread the wealth of knowledge you have. You say the plank boat and the ply version were built side by side. They are very similar in size, with the exception of the bottom width and flare. Plywood btm = 26 - 1/2 inches side angle = 36...

    A New Marsh Pirogue

You mentioned waiting for the temp to come up so you could get the epoxy to set, is that some sort of thickened stuff or straight or just waterproof wood glue? Also, the fastenings? Galv., Bronze, stainless? Nail.. or screws?

    A New Marsh Pirogue

Coming along nicely. You showed how you pre-bent the inside chine and attached to each side, but looking at the photo just prior to putting the bottom on, those inside chine pieces look perfectly flat, or I guess I should say, aligned with the plane of the bottom. Did you cut the inside chine...
