    oldbuffpilot , 1st point using wider strips will be quicker, bur if you want the strips to conform to your curved panels, then the thinner (3/4'') will be easier to work with. 2nd small knots add character, sheathing will make them plenty strong. 3rd I have used push pins but now use 1'' brads...

    That hook popped right out with some 30lb test at the hook bend and a quick whack, mind you the skin there's no where near as tough as the top of one's head ( expierience speaking) :roll: MM

    Used to love fishing for them when living in the Cayman Islands, my catch to strike ratio on them was pretty much 5 to 1, got good at dodging flying hooks. Not this one though Hooked up

    Can't speak to the weight, but I use both, 6oz for hull, 4oz for deck & bulkheads. 4oz weave requires less epoxy to get good fill for sure. MM

    Keep your cool.

    Not the same product name but same features,that I used in my motor cycle riding days in the Texas heat, lasted between gas stops. Allowed me to wear the protective gear without burning up. will look out for this one. MM

    from our latest trips it's not a problem to pick and chose the size you want, nice small one for cooking on the river MMMMM. They are covered in tics though, good cleaning required but worth the work and it is work :P MM

    What next?

    I started out using the underlayment ply found in the big box stores and I think it's the way to go for (a) a beginner, no real worry of wasting expensive wood on mistakes. (b) prototyping, where again the expence is a large consideration. One of my earlier boats (TV 15-29) was built this way...
