    How to Strip Build

Thanks Beekeeper. That guy is a very talented woodworker and his "how to" is a good quick summary. I poked around and looked at some of his other projects and they are all impressive.

    A Lake Bistineau Pirogue

Nice boat beekeeper. What ever happened to the VERY pretty strip build pirogue you built?

    Snow Shoe 14 SOF

Looks great! I check out the Geo Aerolite website from time to time and have wondered how they worked the Kevlar. Thanks for posting your build.

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Thanks Jack, that brought back some fond memories. I was a working flight instructor at McKinney (TKI) for a couple years in the 90's and did all those maneuvers myself and talked many students through them as well. Lots of fun!

Today's NRS newsletter had an article on hydration and boating that adds to this conversation: http://www.nrs.com/safety_tips/boaters_ ... ent=0714-1

Chuck, I friend of mine has the same rack system you have. He found an extra "slide" adapter and made a flat bed type box for his grocery trip. You could build a stripper version in no time. Looks something like this, but without the support legs. It uses the existing Topeak base for support.

I'm with Dan regarding saddle choice. My rides are typically minimum of 25 miles, and I use a thinner saddle than his. It does has a shallow groove down the center for a little relief. The sit bones really do all the work and I have found a firm saddle causes less pressure since there is no...

Ron - I took a look at the trike and thought, heck Ron could build his own if he wanted to.

Hey Chuck, it sounds like a fun new adventure for you. You'll get your legs and lungs up to speed in no time. As you add miles you might think about mountain biker shorts so you can have the benefit of padded tush, without the skin tight shorts. They are baggy and not unlike "normal" shorts...

Great looking boat and camo job! thanks for posting the pic. I think that's the first Herb Cottle style boat I've seen with a rib it. When you skinned it, did you do anything extra to seal the edges of the metal to the frame? Pre punch the nail holes?

Andy, Welcome to the club and thanks for your service in the Air Force. FedEx must have been a cake walk after wrestling with 8 engines on the BUFF. Please post some pics of your Herb Cottle boats when you get a chance. Also any advice on attaching the skin to the ladder frame would be...

    17# Pirogue

Phish, I am very interested in the build pics and descriptions. That is the boat (Herb’s) that led me to this forum in the first place. I saw your earlier post (maybe on TKF?) about getting Matt’s TP plans, and I have bought them also, but flat bottom version. Thanks

    Long term experiment

Looking forward to see how it comes together. Is the Casita too nice for the purposes you have in mind for this one?
