    Kevlar isn't much different than handling/laying fibreglass...more expense, though. Personally, I'd build that one with a cold pressed wood layup and just use fibreglass.

    With shrunk Dacron, it shouldn't leak even without paint. But, the first coat on Dacron (at least in aircraft appliacations) is a saturation/sealing coat that soaks into the weave very well. After that you'd have to cut or puncture the skin for a leak - in aircraft we actually have to install...
