Sailboat Re-furb (or) "What did I get myself into?"

Folks I've contacted on FaceBook page said "bronze plate on/near the mast step or c/b trunk". May be under some paint? Hey, this is some of the fun...kinda like tracking down info on old firearms!

Sailboat Re-furb (or) "What did I get myself into?"

Heh, ahem...yeah! Yes, I haven't forgotten that. Thinking about doing both, actually - that is, if I can get inside well in all the crannies with 'her bottom-upwards. Karl was surprised at how well the inside cleaned up. Sails are in the garage drying out. Oh, hey...do you know the hull # or...

Sailboat Re-furb (or) "What did I get myself into?"

    How bout Uncle John's?

Hey Bill, here's some encouragement...even with my crooked cuts (worn bearings on an old Craftsman skil-saw) my 11 year old Karl did a bangup job with this one: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7999

    To wet or not?

Uh, supposed to remove the nails, staples, brads, etc., before wetting...correct? :?: Least, that's the way I do it. Holes generally close up pretty well.

    How bout Uncle John's?

To get experience without frustration (especially if you don't have a table saw) get the UJ with the stem/rib kit.

The boat build that would never end...

Re: The home stretch Many varnishes are alcohol thin-able, or mineral-spirits thin-able. Check your label, you may not have to strip it all the way back, but only re-flow it.
