What knife do you carry on or with you?

I did a forum search on "knife" and "knives" but didn't really see what I was looking for... I've got a Leatherman multi-tool and I use it a lot. But I'm thinking of adding a fixed or folding bladed knife to my inventory. Looking for opinions and experiences... What do you carry with you when...

I can't compete with Keith and Seedtick. If you want a laugh, come see my as-yet-to-be-completed UJ in Slidell. A few miles off I-12, one or two exits before the I-12/I-10/I-59 split.

    Test drive

As mentioned in another post in the "General" section, I've been rather busy this second half of the year with various family activities (I wont even talk about the skirt and pompom thing  ) generally referred to as "life." As a result, my build project has dropped in priority and has...

    New guy from shalimar Florida

At work, we would call this a "best practice." I used a random orbital sander on my scarf joints. That would NOT be considered a best practice.

I'm using Titebond III on my UJ. Seems to work pretty well. Note: Titebond III is supposed to be waterproof, as opposed to Titebond II, which is not. Some folks may say to use thickened epoxy, but my whole thing is, I'm covering all of my joints with epoxy anyway, so Titebond on the joints...

    Falls in the air.

I'm jealous. If fall is in the air, I can't seem to see it through the haze of 98% humidity or the wafting clouds of mosquitos getting a second lease on life. Bring on the cold weather already!!!

    Trench cooking

Guess I missed this thread earlier... Every time I paddle on the Black Creek we do this. Dig a hole in the sand, couple short logs/sticks on the side to hold the grill, foil wrapped potatoes (or squash) in the coals, steaks on the grill, beer in hand. One time, one of our friends had prepared...

Slow but steady progress. Working on fill coats on the interior. Also, some decks for the ends. Here are a couple pictures: The blank: And shaped: Close enough for me. Epoxy will fill in the gaps, ROS will take care of the rest.

I used a slightly different method: Random Orbital Sander, 120 grit. Epoxy to follow. :D

It's that time of year again. About half dozen of these pairs died with a smile on their faces  waiting for the epoxy to dry.

I'm not a Tiger alum, so Mom had to put up with a little bit of protesting from me... but I gotta admit she looks darn cute in that outfit :D

Had to give a test drive before I started on the interior glasswork: Laying in the glass to let it relax. Hope to wet it out tomorrow, between smoking ribs and a pork loin... There is a chance I'll finish it before the next rendezvous.

I happened to have some stainless steel trim-head screws left over from another project. Used those instead of brads. Lots of pilot holes to drill

Finished the seat today. Just need to varnish it. I didn't square up the base very well, so the back rest has a little slant to it. Had to lop off 1/2" on one of the back rest supports. Not too noticeable. I'll put up some pics later. Now back to the boat...
