    Lafitte skiff

I fully understand the apples and oranges aspect comparing fiberglass and wooden boats, and I tend to let my imagination and my mouth overload my ass pocket. I finished my little row/paddle boat, and am kinda day dreaming about a future build. I am really taken by the lines of the Lafitte Skiff...

    Lafitte skiff

Great boat and job building it. There was a fella down here in Tampa Bay that had a 24-25 footer (fiberglass) he used for charter fishing back in the 1980's, and I've been impressed with those hulls ever since. How small did they make them, were there 14 - 16 foot versions made with the same...

    A New Marsh Pirogue

You guys said in an earlier post that you cut out of few extra stem pieces when you are making them, question I have is how are you transferring the curve of each particular bow of whatever boat you are making to the stem, and are you getting that fit via bandsaw or planes or...? Did you scribe...

Yes sirs, Jack, you got what I was trying to get across, The young man got a grasp on life's lessons yesterday, and I was a lot prouder of that, than concerned about the loss of a $100 chinese camera. And yes Chuck, I did mention Mr. Murphy, and that indeed was the last part of the "Incident...

    pirogue X two

We got out for a few hours Sunday afternoon, glassy smooth, Mullet jumping everywhere, lots of birds working,(the white Pelicans are here for the winter), saw a few small sharks cruisin' the flats. Took some great photos of both boats in action. Checked out the various trim levels on the skiff...

I went on out to the launch site to watch the stalwarts paddle on in, to a man they said the fishing was great, the catching, not so much. Guess we didn't miss out so badly. Tomorrow, we be goin' out, Pics to follow

    A New Marsh Pirogue

"How much Rocker" seems to be a common question on alot of these builds. I, for one think rocker is kind a of a moot point. I have paddled and rowed boats with lots of "rocker" (Bayou Skiff)and then the one I built with hardly any, (1 inch in the bow, 1/2 inch in the stern). Like the gentleman...

I guess I'm done with the Bayou Skiff "Lite". Painted the interior with some epoxy paint, Sandstone color, (light tan). seemed to cover well with one coat and it hid a lot of my construction "Holidays". The son and I had a grand plan this morning to go fishing with a local Kayak club in upper...

Hello fellas, thanks for the replies. The transom angle came about after an internet search. I can't remember exactly where, but as Chuck said, 12 to 13 degrees was quoted as the standard for outboard transoms.

Did some re-modifications on the boy's pirogue. Cut the stern off and put in a small transom. I made it right at thirteen degrees, so we can put a electric trolling motor on it if we decide to go that way. An added plus is it nests real nice in my Bayou "lite" skiff. We are getting them...

    Bayou Skiff News?

This one is just about done. Pardner's skiff is turning out to be museum quality. He keeps painting on the epoxy, and then sanding most of it off, but he sure does have it smooth as a baby's behind. The interior "inwale" is installed. He used closet dowel rod for the spacers and that 1/4"...

You have some pictures of your yachts at a function in Texas. They look great by the way, but I for one am anxious to hear how they performed on the water. Any chance of a report?

handmade or deja vu all over again

Really coming along, what is the purpose of the places along the sides you skipped while bringing the sides down to the thickness you want? Also, it looks like you chopped a little deeper where your depth measurement stick is standing. I guess you do that in a couple places and then work to...

Wetting out the hull really lights up that boat. Looking really good so far. Water test results can't be far off!

Except the Wavy -Wavy thing called the Mirage Drive is $480.00, but it does require a hole in the boat.
