My opinion wasn't asked for but, here it is anyway.
if the boat will be used, I agree with the graphite. I will also say that because of the workmanship, the graphite should be limited to two thirds of the bottom. Do not bring the graphite up on the bow as most of us do. Keep it strictly on the...
I have reached the point of giving up my beloved fried fish for baked.
Now all Ido if filet the fish and put it on a pan with some Zaterans and a couple of dabs of butter. 350 for 8 + r - min depending on the thickness and when finished with what I cooked, wonder why I didn't cook more.
Oh...
Re: Skinny perow coming
Looking good.
The only thing I see that "may" be questionable is the square bow.
I did that on one of my canoes and the garn thing would just hit an object and stop, It would not ride up and over.
Let us know how it goes.
Now Ron,
That sure is pretty to watch BUT, I think it would be impossible to do for very long with a boat load of gear and any water movement at all.
Not to mention 18 drunk ski boaters and un- countable water lice buzzing around. [local lake standards]
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A HIJACK
There has been a great deal of discussion in this thread, most of it very interesting and worthwhile. Graphite vs sanded graphite, semi round vs hard chined, long vs short boats, narrow vs wider ones. Much stuff to read and conger about. So first a couple of...
What they didn't show is the 50 hp outboard it will take to move that thing.
There is enough parisitic drag on the exterior of that boat to damn near keep it from moving.
And try to go over a log or stump with that thing.
Not my idea of how to re-furbish a canoe.
But whoever does it, PLEASE...
WHY BE YA LIEING ta me. Case you didn't know it, I gots me a ittybitty arrow thing on this computer. I pulled up that pic of the dead dog and poked it with that arrow and there was no movement at all.
The dog has passed beyond this life. EE"S dead
Now, get ta work and post more pics of the...
Hay, Don't point out the "special mods" we like to find them on our own.
It's sorta like one of those games where you have to find 5 different things in a picture.
Don't spoil our fun.
Just post the pics of your FINE LOOKING boat.
Man, that sure will be pretty with those woods.
I just hope you can hire someone to help you load and unload it.
I'll make a guess here it comes in over 65 lbs.
A most excellent trip report. I do have one bit of advice if you care to take it.
Invite pops up to visit. Tell him that you have found a great place to paddle and he should bring a canoe.
Prior to his leaving to go back home, replace the canoe with the pirouge and then Neil will have a boat...
Most excellent pics.
AND: other than the first pic of the campsite, you managed to get the best side of Jack for the pics.
Great looking rock formations. I'm not to sure of the paddling possibilites in that stream tho.
Ron, I agree that sitting at the wider part of a boat will be more stable than if you were sitting in the narowier section. What I am a bit mystified about is why you were putting the weight at the edge of the boat.
Would it not be a better comparison to put the weight in the middle of the boat...
