Just a thought if you check this post again. Have you considered a Skiff or a Dory for good stability while fly fishing??? They will handle much larger chop as well.
I am building a UJ. You know you can always rig up some inexpensive outriggers just for stability. Bamboo and caped PVC lashed together. Southern enginering you know.
