    Zebra Wood in a paddle

Oh is this what a feathered paddle looks like?

    Dehydrated Hamburg

I dunno, but when I brown hamburger, I remove the juices with a turkey baster. I put them into a pyrex measuring cup and allow the fat to float. Then I add the watery, meaty part of the liquid back to the beef. Use the turkey baster to "reach through" the fat and suck up the juice. It...

    Plywood- Baton Rouge area

Amen. I found a supplier in NE Ohio that had 1/4" Okoume for about that price. I could drive 4 1/2 hours each way, or pay a $75 crate charge PLUS delivery. The local boat shop wanted $86. I'll stick to exterior grade unless this new lead I got works out.

    R U up for a A NEW TIN BOX OVEN CHALLENGE ?

Piper's looks like the ammo box oven, even has a door on the side. Here's a really elaborate stove from a 50cal ammo box. Route the exhaust from that through the inner space in a double walled box and you'd be livin' large. In the boy scouts, we tried the shoe box oven. Take a shoebox, cover...

Oh, thank heavens. I thought you were going to say "w*rk". My apologies to those of delicate sensibilities. Others can highlight the sentence to see it.

    Plywood- Baton Rouge area

You can even get the wood for free. It's actually a good looking boat - almost like beech. Canoe made from disposable chopsticks

Wow, what a coincidence, Jeff C asked the exact same question two years ago - http://www.answersearch.info/question/2 ... dOXrq.html Did the prof assign the same homework, or are you going to start spamming us?

    Turtle Chasin'

IMHO, he's one of the best pop singers of my generation. He writes clever lyrics, steals riffs from all sorts of genres, and has grown from an angry punk pop rocker to a musical encyclopedia. Plus he married Diana Krall, who is a total babe, and sings like a nightingale...

    Kayak

Forgot one: the Sierra Club and the local Parks & Recreation commission hold classes. The P&R one is 3 1/2 hours one night a week for ten weeks, and is designed for beginners. I'll have to buy a pool pass, and pay the 'out of county' price, and it'll still only be $100 or so. They supply...

    Turtle Chasin'

They're out of my league too. My plane is made of plastic, and has pedals on the bottom. I have to go vroom, vroom as I pedal down the sidewalk. The neighbors look at me funny, but I just shake my fist and yell, "Curse you, Red Baron", and they leave me alone. Unfortunately, I'm not a...

I don't know how big Wallington is, or how near London it is, but here is what I did: o Find a mailing list, especially if it's local. Cincinnati (pop 300,000+) has a Yahoo Group. The files section holds a lot of local wisdom. There are ad hoc groups that do whitewater runs every weekend...

    Turtle Chasin'

Ha! round here, the turtle chasers just grab the sunbather's kini top. The wingman has the gun cameras. There are some FBO's that fly them like pennants at the used car dealer, but most consider that braggin'. Let us know when you're ready for the big leagues

Thanks for posting that picture. I swear, I'm learning more here than senior year in high school.

    Done.... Finally!

A woman who loves boats? Don't let her get away! After some delicate negotiations with SWMBO, I am allotted up to an hour a night, two with good behavior, plus 8 hours on the weekend for "working on that boat". I asked her about attending Paddlefest with me, but she suggested that it should...

Mick - I love how the boats look with the green waterline. It really makes the wood stand out. And the black makes the green stand out. Do you paint it black or graphite to the epoxy on the lower hull?

    Saw Horses

Thanks, I'll have to grab a pair when I get my $15.99 right angle grinder. And a cartful of other stuff I didn't know I needed

    Morning trip on Bayou Manchac

Both nice boats. I like how minimal that seat is - a backrest and a swivel, and not much else.

handmade or deja vu all over again

What a beautiful piece of wood. If you have time someday, it would be interesting to hear how you find and recover sinkers. (I know there's a photo on one of the other threads - looks like a day's work at least).

    Any Ideals

So the drill is, if you want a new type of boat, have Ron ask for it? Not to get too far off topic, but would you have to trailer a pirogue in the 18-20' range? Lightly built, 60-70lbs or +100lbs for a "normal" build? Even with a t-rack, it would be a strain to lift that much onto a pickup.
