    Easiest build

Interesting, the way this topic is panning out. Differences of opinion make for the best debate. Fortunately this forum tends to attract, and keep people that can disagree on a subject yet remain civilised - unlike so many other net forums- Congratulations to all participants for that mercy. I...

What knife do you carry on or with you?

I take along a "tactical knife". Probably average quality but I make sure it is sharp enough for my needs. The lower end of the blade is serrated for heavier duty cutting. Blade flips out one handed if needed to, and the lock appears quite solid. BUT I always take one or two of them cheap...

Welcome back Mick and welcome Janet. Jeez guys I'm glad I'm glad I ain't the only one to shake my head when I saw Baldy's suggestion 'bout hammocks  Seriously though, may the year ahead be better than those that went before: for all of us. Regards John.

    H20 Purification

Am pleased to see that written down. Never did hear of it being so, but remember years ago thinking I wonder if the water below the beach would be filtered of salt due to the sand. Of couse being me I never did get around to testing "MY" theory. Cheers guys. Regards John.

    Kayak/Canoe Grab Handles

Kinda, abit like this? The chances of catching this loop on something are about as slim as it gets. SS turnbuckle in the endpour, or can add later. Just drill a hole. Cut turnbuckle in half. Spread the sidebars to an angle that will touch the sides or end and deck and resist pulling...

    The Swamper- new design

Have to admit I thought that would be a good idea, after the fact 8) Not so much scratches and grime, moreso when you come to using the icky glue. The icky glue on bare ply tends to be hard to get off without either sanding or damage to the surface of the ply, or both. Glue stains also tend to...

    Just a quiet afternoon paddle

Hmm I looked at that picture page and thought... Compare the shadow on the guy's back with the shadow of the dorsal fin on the shark's back. Could've been one of them "two sun days"

    Just a quiet afternoon paddle

These pics and many more like it are often fakes. The guy deserves to get eaten just for wearing a bad hat and not wearing a PFD. Regards John.

And what is it exactly that would prevent you from enlarging the cockpit of the Laker? Regards John.

Two Small tear style canoe trailer's

    Stupid Tool Tricks

Probly should have added to the above post that I always make sure I can unplug from the socket or extension lead with my foot ie make a loop for one foot and have the other foot standing on it. LEFT HANDERS BEWARE!

    Stupid Tool Tricks

Ya know them big industrial drills that you have a big handle on the side. Its big 'cos this powerful a drill is gonna provoke a lot of torque, and really in order to control it you shoulda put a two foot length of pipe to extend that handle. Well it was one of them drills. I was fifteen so knew...

    Another Aussie Laker

Hey Dave Like you I couldn't come to terms with them $ being spent on footbraces so I cheated  Cut two pieces of 12mm ply at about 5 x 2" chamfered the edges a bit and glued with w/flour them in the approximate place I'd worked out I'd need footbraces at. (Another edit for clarification...
