    Home-brew sourkraut and Dill pickles

I have a lot of German blood on my mother's side, but not much German culture that I can remember being brought up with. The only German influence I can recall is that my Grandmother loved sauerkraut. Oh yes, and "Gesundheit." :?

    coworker

After Katrina, I had a neighbor who was cutting down a tree. It was in a bind and struck him in the head. Killed him. That was a not too uncommon occurance after Katrina. Scary stuff. I cut down my share of trees, but left the knarly ones to the pros.

    Tent Repair

And duct tape. Slide the tube over. Duct tape it into place. I had a tent repair kit for my REI Dome tent. It came with various sized patches, etc., but it also had an aluminum tube big enough to slide over the poles for that exact reason.

    Round Profile

Of all the repsonses on this topic, I think Joey's is the most truthful and accurate. The biggest factor in making MY pirogue go faster is my abilty to lose about 30 pounds.

    Crude Oil Pipeline inspection flight

Wow. Bird strikes are scary things. Last year, a hawk went through the windshield of a Sikorsky S-76 en route to one of our platforms. Took it down. Eight dead. Miraculously, one man survived. Of course, there's the whole Sully deal in NYC. That was something.

I'm not sure I had the right link the first time. I modified the link to point to the photo album. Supposed to be public, i.e., you don't need a facebook account to see it. I also added a fb disclaimer.

    First Need Water Purifier

I had a First Need years ago that I used on backpacking trips. Nothing like a cool clear water bottle in the back country. Mine had an attachment for the carry bag that allowed you to fill the bag with water and gravity feed through the filter into your water bottle. Nice alternative to...
