I should have taken one of the yaks out today..no wind ..sunny and nice..
Instead I lashed the kayak together ..Well almost complete... sore hands and I'll be dreaming about those figure 8 stopper knots...

I am working on cutting the stringers to set flush against the bow...
I clamp a pc. of 1/2'' stock between the top and keel as a saw guide..
The gunwales are next..
Steve
Jeff recommends 1/2'' ply in the book..My frames are 3/8'' and the stern and bow plywood pcs. are 1/2'' ..All the stringers are cedar..5/8''thick and 1'' wide.... the gunwale is 1 1/2'' wide.....
Seve
Bee ....can you picture a boat with those tumblehome sides extending down to the 4-6'' water line...seems like it woud help against wind....
sorta like this..
The WL width is 2.747' and the length is 15.126'....The angle of the first riser is 20 deg. off the bottom panel ..bott. is 20'' wide...This boat I can stand up in and fish...
John at least you have down-sized gradually. I thought the Challenger 16-28 was tipsy when I first paddled it...
But the wood kayaks don't have these frames a person has to slip-into.
How does one quickly escape one of these when wearing shoes that can get hung up on a frame?
I also have been paddling every chance I get.... supposed to be nice tommorow..I'll take out my TV 15-29....
Doubt I'll be catching any more land-locked 20'' catfish though..
Back to the post....The frames for the Curlew...
