Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

PEDALING AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD Riding a bike was fun when I was a kid, and it still is. Spring is already here in some places, and just around a corner - or two - everywhere else. Let's review some stuff to do. It's been my observation that, if you stop the next 100 bikes you see on the...

    Scrap Brazillian Mesquite

Tha Au Sable River here in Michigan, has what they call "quality" fishing areas. Where, when a fish is caught, it has to be (1) caught on a barbless hook, and (2) thrown back in. Now, I'm not a fisherman since I was 14 years old, but even I can recognize that is a fishing lie. There's no...

    . . . . . . . or, it might be easier to just go buy fish? I know; I know. That isn't fun.

A question: have you considered a bjt bigger boat with a trolling motor?

Neil, a flat bottomed boat will demonstrate more initial stability than a vee or semi-rounded bottom. It feels more stable and resists leaning. BUT, when the lean reaches its limit, the boat suddenly breaks and flips. A semi-rounded bottom shows less initial stability, but more secondary...

Dang, Neil, that doesn't sound comfy. A friend of mine has a similar situation. Getting older isn't for sissies. But, it is for survivors. So, take it a little slower, and keep on keeping on.

I like a quick and easy breakfast.........

I concur on dislike lf instant oatmeal. I think it's pretty much like shredded newspaper soaked in liquid drained from blisters on the heels of hikers. An old friend of mine would take a thermos, add a cup of whole wheat kernels, and add boiling water. He ckrked it up and let it soak...

Chuck, do you miss it being hot? I definitely like this better than a packet of instant oatmeal! Yuck.

Gotta quit feeding him, Grandpa. They hit a growth spurt and put on a few inches, and first thing you know ypu're looking them straight in the eye. And, it was only last month that they learned how to ride a bike!

    Eye Bolt Deflector

The only fish big enough to tow me around was a 33" northern pike in central Canada. But, we were in a boat too big. Had a big muskie come along and towed us, it could've been a Canuck sleigh ride. I like the holes in the stem ends to be just inboard of the stem, and a couple of inches above...

    Eye Bolt Deflector

G'day, JD. Does the line ever get caught on TOP of the eyebolt? When a fish gets the line hung up, does he tow you around? I guess that, instead of a Nantucket sleigh ride when whale boats got towed, it would be a bayou sleigh ride, ehh?
