    Tough winter and worse spring

Yes , tested and everything was OK or so they told me back then. It's rumored that it's suppose to mend by itself but you know how rumors go. They either wire it back together or like a buddy of mine , they super glued his back together. The idea is that it holds things together so it can...

    Tough winter and worse spring

Kevin...I appreciate that information. Yep . They wanted to go back in and redo everything and they even mentioned the possibility of getting a plastic surgeon. You might or could say I was not very receptive to that idea. I'm so sick and tired of doctors that I have settled with the idea of...

    Tough winter and worse spring

Nice to hear some good news and congratulations on everything going right. I knew in the hospital I was in for some problems ( down the road ) when everyone was going home. Even the folks that came in after me. I was starting to think they were going to keep me as a mascot or door stop , not...

"T" Kettle Soup ( Hot Dog Soup )

Back during the depression my Grandmother made this for her family and later my parents for us. I still make it for myself ( I had some yesterday ). It's cheap to make , easy to make , tasty and really filling. 1. Two cups of water. 2. Two hot dogs. ( All Beef ) 3. One individual pack of the...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Jack.... Are you sure about the soft tires leaking air. Could it be that over the winter someone put on excess weight. If that's the case then the tires would appear flatter then normal. The seat is to low. that's understandable when you get on someone else's bicycle. Could be a vision problem...

    Scrap Brazillian Mesquite

There's a boat I like to refer to as a modified Pirogue and it's the Bayou Skiff at Uncle John boats. Here is a link to it. http://unclejohns.com/bysk14/Default.htm I built one and it's pretty stable in fact a friend of mine liked it so much I gave it to him for fishing shallow water areas in...

I like a quick and easy breakfast.........

The same with oatmeal if you have something to hold the temperature ( Thermos Wide Mouth ) and a long handled spoon. There are a lot of items on the market today which keep items either cold or hot. The two I have are the Hydro Flask ( 18 ounce ) and the Klean Kanteen ( 20 ounce ). Either...

    Scrap Brazillian Mesquite

I would rate the stability of a pirogue somewhere between a canoe and a kayak. I paddled/poled the Okefenokee in my canoe for quite a distance while standing , haven't had the nerve to try it in my Pirogue in open water. I did stand in the pirogue on one Okefenokee trip but it was straddling a...

I like a quick and easy breakfast.........

It's a different consistency then the hot and for warm weather I like it a lot better. The best description I can use is that it's sort of chewy , not over cooked and not raw just a happy medium. I think the amount of time it soaks has a lot to do with the end product. Mine soaks about 12 hours...

I like a quick and easy breakfast.........

I like a quick and easy breakfast and cold soaking works really well in hot weather. I use the old fashion oatmeal , 3/4 of a cup , a healthy dose of Cinnamon , a sprinkle of ground clove , a sprinkle of ground Nut Meg , a heaping teaspoon of Brown Sugar and a dash of table salt. I also add a...

    Quick Pasta..........When Camping.

Don't know if you have tried this or not , probably not. There is a quick way to cook pasta. The pasta can be cold soaked with a pinch of salt for about 90 minutes ( No Longer ) and then drained , added to the pot with fresh water and when it comes to a boil let it boil for 1 minute and then...

    Testing Again

If you are so remote you have a Sasquatch ( Big Foot ) swimming close by you are really in the boonies. :) My Sasquatch hasn't seen any water for a while and is high and dry in the carport. Still haven't gotten the OK from the Docs to do any paddling.

"I've gotta be - shoveling off."

That's the difference between you trying to dig threw rocks for a cat hole and myself digging a cat hole in a sandy area. As the realtors say... Location , Location , Location. A shovel would be nicer if there was a rush for a cat hole but as anouther saying goes.......Prior Planning Prevents...

"I've gotta be - shoveling off."

Sounds like a good improvement on the shovel ( entrenching tool ). I still have a wooden handled one and the metal handled one with my preference being the wooden handled one. The real advantage of the metal handled one is that it folds up into a smaller package. Both are handy for...
