Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

I'm behind the power curve on getting photos in. Sorry bout that. I think that most of my nit-noy (trivial) mods are done. The trailer hitch is a genius design, but I found it not totally assembled inside. Some poor kid in a Chinese sweat factory was probably in a hurry. I'll get piccies...

    HAPPY 4th OF JULY

The thumping and bumping around here reminded me of the sounds of close air support in Nam.

    Made the 6 o'clock news

Good work , Jules. I'm glad that I don't have any sane friends. They're boring. Each of my friends is uniquely insane, in some fascinating way.

    HAPPY 4th OF JULY

Well, as Professor Henry Higgins lamented in "My Fair Lady", "DAMN!! DAMN!! damn!" We enjoy the Independence Day parade in the nearby town of Mason. But, we got rained out. I'm afraid the parade got rained on, if not rained out. I try to keep count of farm tractors - and politicians - in...

    HAPPY 4th OF JULY

Some are worried about the ants, while we're in the middle of an elephant stampede.

    HAPPY 4th OF JULY

It is a time of year again, to express our thanks and gratitude for our freedom. We stand on the shoulders of giants, and we can see farther out ahead because of that assistance we were given. Freedom of choice is the one, single, most important benefit that we have. It underlies all lther...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Thanks, Chuck. You read my mind. Just like the old bull told the young bull . . . . . ;-)

TEST RIDE Well, little by little, we're getting organized. Charlie has a lot of "points of interest" along the way for us to visit. I have some menu items that he likes. When I mentioned the freeze-dried refried beans that I'll bring along, he immediately thought of a - - - ting contest...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Well, the bike trip that Charlie and I are taking has grown (maybe that should read "groan"?) It's now about 60 miles. Actually, that's probably better. More scenery, and I'll learn more. We're now riding from Cadillac to Farwell. We also reversed ditection, which I've been playing around...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Ii just bought a book, "Hello, Bicycle." Has some interesting areas. I'll relate more as I learn more.

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

A difference here is, that when a railroad is abandoned, they pull the tracks, ties, and stone ballast. Some are then rolled to smooth them. Some of the crushed stone ballast always remains, and this firms up the surface. Many, are simply blacktopped. Michigan has more miles of such Rails to...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Interesting. Four guys gathered, then one left, I guess. Three started - one was overstressed, and drove chase vehicle. Two rode all the way. Observations: 1. Riding this 10 years ago (2009) was MUCH safer than riding in Argentina now. Kind of a suicide ride today. 2. I would have liked...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

I filed off those spoke ends that had been cut off wirh a side cutter. Lightened up my bike, and invreased top end speed by 0.001mph!

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Speaking of flat tires, I've come to several conclusions. 1 Inner tubes of today a nowhere nearly as good as those of 60-70 years ago. I had 9 years of steady, everyday riding, winter and summer, with only one, flat tire. In the last 7 years of once in a while riding, I've had 3-4 flats. 2...

BIKE CARTS Should other riders be interested in a bike cart, here are some things that I found. Carts seemed divided into two categories: most were designed to haul a kid or two. The other category was of interest to me - cargo carts. The cheaper carts had wheels of plastic, with hard tires...

    Hot Dog !!!!!!!

Yes! Plus some Tabasco. I make my own sausage. I use a Ninja food chopper. Lean pork loin, sage, garlic, onion, salt. Sometimes caroway or fennel seed. Maybe other spices too, as the mood strikes. We buy wonton wraps at a local Asian market. A rounded teaspoon of sausage fits in there...

    Hot Dog !!!!!!!

Aye god, Gamecock, that may be so. Same can be said about snails, snakes, and sneaks. I'll leave their disposition to others.

    Hot Dog !!!!!!!

I like the ideas - no matter how old those kids may be. Fun foods can be knteresting, folded into good times. But, Jack would use brats or homemade sausage to get better meat.. I prefer to not eat eyelids, lips, sphincters.and such.
