I am working on a design for a pond boat for use on farm ponds and the small lakes we have her in Central Illinois. I have an idea in mind similar to the MiniCat ( http://www.duckworksbbs.com/plans/simps ... /index.htm )but instead of having the curve on the bow I am going to have a straight bow and square stern. the Idea is to get the 12 inch sides cut from one sheet and the 12 inch decks and bottoms from another sheet. Then using either another sheet or creating a "trampoline" type deck. Any thoughts?

Cheers

Its a small pontoon boat, around 7 1/2 feet long and I will have it so I can use it 4 feet wide by myself or if I want to take one of the kids Ill make a wider deck around 6 feet wide. I will have a set of oar locks and also a trolling moter mount on it. We have a few lazy rivers near here I may try to take it down that one reason im on the fence about a curved bow or a straight one. I know the curved bow will go over rocks and stumps easier. Just trying to keep it simple. Im going to try to start on the hulls this weekend. I was talking to my 14 year old daughter about it and loved the fact that she sounded excited to help build it.

If stumps, and your kids, are to be involved, you may want it as upset-proof (curved bow) as you can get it?

I was just looking at my old drawings of my PDRacer I built. I think I may look at instead of a straight bow going with more of a curved box shape.

http://www.pdracer.com/free-plans/ Thats the shape Im thinking of. Then it would be more upset=-proof!
