Jack,

She is pretty flash, isn't she.

Mate, she is a local TV presenter, a city girl who loves the bush and once a week, she has been running a documentary on our network TV about the places in the link.

tThe one last night was on the Central Queensland Gems where she toured outback central and north Queensland.

These places are semi desert and desert mostly and are very dear to me.
She visited with families who own and run isolated cattleand sheep ranches (we call them stations) and briefly touched on the hardships they deal with.

One such place, a family owned station, consisted of over seven thousand square kilometres with the nearest house being 65 kilometres away and the nearest town, Charleville, a seven hour drive away.

The series showcases much of Australia, that very few Australians will ever see or experience and that is our loss as a nation. We have become a nation of coast huggers with huge areas of our inland sparcely populated, if at all.

Small, real outback towns like Winton, Longreach, Dajarra, Opaltown Birdsville, and Charleville, are etched deep into the Australian psych yet very few Australians ever go there. At best, some might pass through in their hurry to go somewhere else. There is much of our history in these places and I think Australian geographic is to be congratulated on the magnificent series they have produced.
