Here's a half size model of an Atchafalaya Basin Bateau that friend Keith and I just finished. They are also called jon boats or putt putts. They came into use in the early 1900's and had a small inboard marine engine. The design lasted until the the 1950's when outboards replaced the small inboards

If that is a half size Bateau the full size must be 18 feet by 60 inches wide? Beautiful work again guys.

No Bear, but you're close it's Ava Madeleine

Oz, you just about hit the nail on the head. These bateaus were 16 to 25 feet long with 3 1/2 to 5 foot wide bottoms. They were the "work trucks" in region that had no roads. Sizes varied depending on end use which included tasks like fishing, moss picking, pulling logs, pushing barges, etc.
