This is really good. Can prepare in the Dutch Oven.

POLISH HOT POT (prazonka):

Rub bottom and sides of roaster with lard
and line bottom and sides with raw cabbage
leaves. Peel and slice med-thin 5-lbs.
potatoes,
slice 1-1/4 lbs smoked kielbasa
and 3/4 lbs onions, minced garlice to taste,
and dice 1/3 - 1/2 lb slab
bacon. Line bottom with a layer of potatoes,
sprinkle with freshly ground pepper, add a
layer of kielbasa, then onions and bacon,
add another layer of potatoes, pepper and
continue layering until ingredients are used
up. Salt & pepper and cover with cabbage
leaves. Cover roaster and bake in 390°
oven at least 60 min. After switching off
heat, leave in oven for flavors to mingle at
least 20 min. The cabbage leaves are only
a protection against scorching and may be
discarded (although some people enjoy
eating them).

Have you made this in a Dutch Oven when out camping :?: Sounds like one good camping meal for a bunch of hungry guy's.

Could you pre fry the bacon about half way before adding it , this way it would cut down on the fat and substitute a little water for the missing amount of fat or would it just ruin everything :?:
You have coated the sides of the roaster with the lard.

As far as eating it ..................
Personally ... For myself ....... Throw the cabbage leaves on my plate and then pile on some of the center stacked goodies. :D
