I am fixing to start a 16 ft 5 inch 24 inch wide asymmetrical piroque
It will be ss@g western red ceder with white pine accents.
We will find out about some of the stuff on angles of the sides on this boat.

Come on down to see me Ron. I'll give you a 3" thick by about 16' long cedar plank you can rip enough strips out of for a couple of pirogues. Bring a trailer big enough and I will give you a whole cedar tree trunk to make a whole fleet with. Could probally get some 2' wide boards out of the middle. James and I had 2 trees that we never did get slabbed out before he died. Like Bob Barker said "Cooome on Down".

Here ya go.

I stood a 2 ft. peice of trim up at the butt for scale. The little logs in the middle is sycamore for turning.

The same 2 ft stick is on the ground at the butt of the log.

On the other side of the log is a smaller one.

We slabbed up two smaller logs but you can only see one of them here.

These slabs are three inches thick.

Cedar being what it is there will be bad spots in it but there is still a lot of strips in there.
