Paddling Superior in December

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to check in and let you know I was still alive. Just have had a ton of stuff on my plate for several months. After I went paddling today I thought, "What better way to say hi than to give everyone a Lake Superior chill!"

I went out to Presque Isle in Marquette this afternoon and paddled halfway around the Isle out to what they call the Black Rocks and back, for a round trip of just about two miles. Air temps were mid 20's, waves were calm, swelling occasionally to one foot, wind was light from the South, and the water was a balmy 36 degrees.

Joel

Joel is a man among men. Among equals, he's a bit more equal.

Is it just me - or is there a face on the cliff in that second photo? Looks like two dark eyes, a rocky nose, and green foliage for a wild hair do. Probably on old Ojibway legend in there somewhere.

I didn't see it at first, but when you said "foliage for hair" it jumped right out at me.

I'm trying to get out on the open water at least once every month for a year, so the ice will only get better from here on out.

My friend's 7 year old son saw the ice pics and said, "Dad, that's why I want a camera for Christmas, so I can take pictures like that!" 8)
