Jack, Here is a fun one you and Katie might enjoy making. I made it with the kids and now Grand Kids.
Snow Man Cheese Ball
Ya need a couple of packages of softened cream cheese, pinch of fine crushed red pepper, 1/4 cup mayo, 2-3 oz's of bacon bits, about a 1/4 cup of fine chopped onion give or take, about a tablespoon of prepared horse horseradish(white of course), tablespoon or two of chopped parsely,
some real fine chopped nuts(I like walnuts or pecans).
(This a basic small recipe, I normally double it and the snowman is bigger. It goes pretty fast when everyone from the four corners of planet earth show up.)
Mix the stuff up, make three balls from it, one large, medium, and small. Lay the balls in a line like snowman lying down on a platter.
Now come the fun part for the kids. Let them garnish the snowman. Maybe some black olive slices for facial features, carrot nose, red bell pepper for scarf and buttons, maybe pimentos for the same thing. Could use green bell pepper for hat. Celery sticks or pretzel arms. Imagination!
Chill the little guy down and serve with crackers.
