Few of our Super Bowl offerings today. Kids will be over to watch the game today. Lets hope the ads are funny and it's a close game to keep interest level up.
"Super" Sweet Kolbasi & Kraut

* 2 large cans of Kraut (rinsed and drained)
* 1 small onion, diced
* 1 1/2 cup ketchup
* 3/4 cup brown sugar
* 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
* Kolbasi

Rinse kraut and squeeze.

Place into 9x13 casserole

Add in onion, ketchup, brown sugar, and caraway seeds.

Mix together until all the kraut is a deep pink color.

Kolbasi chunks can be added to top of kraut

Cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes.

Bean Dip

* 1 block HOT Mexican Velveeta Cheese
* 1 lb HOT Italian sausage
* 1 can HOT no bean Hormel Chili

Cook sausage, add chilli, pour mix over Cheese, microwave til melted. Dip using Scoop corn chips or regular tortilla chips.

Yes I know, there are no beans in it, but that's what we have affectionately called it for years.

SUPER BOWL SAUSAGE CHILI

* 2 LBS hot Italian Sausage
* 1 small onion diced fine
* 2 tsp minced garlic
* 1 tbls crushed red pepper
* 1/3 cup chili powder
* 1 tbls ground black pepper
* 1 tsp hot sauce (more to taste)
* 2 cans (28 oz.) tomato purree
* 2 cans kidney beans (small cans)
* 1/2 jalepeno pepper chopped extra fine

In large pot, crumble and brown sausage, adding garlic, onion, and hot sauce about 5 minutes before sausage is cooked through.

Drain fat from the sausage, and add remainder of the ingredients

cook 1 1/2 - 2 hours over medium low heat until it is thick enough for you

For extra spice, add more hot sauce or extra pepper

Hot Dogs in Beer Sauce

* 1 small bottle Heinz ketchup
* 1 (1lb.) box brown sugar
* 1 (12 oz. ) can of beer
* 2 or 3 packages hotdogs*
* *You may use the cocktail hot dogs.

In large pot mix ketchup, brown sugar and beer over medium heat until brown sugar dissolves. Cut hot dogs into bite size pieces and put into sauce. Bring to a boil; boil for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring ocassionally ( stir more often if using 3 packages of hotdogs). Serve hot.

Sit back and enjoy while watching the Steelers bring it home!

Steeler Banya Calda (hot bath)

This is an old Italian recipe meant to bring good luck!

* 2 cans of tuna in oil
* 4 cans of flat anchovies
* 2 sticks of butter
* 4 ounces of olive oil
* As much garlic as one can stand (the more the better )
* Fresh vegetables (green pepper, carrots, cabbage )
* Fresh Italian bread

Combine the first four ingredients in a sauce pan or slow cooker

Cook until the anchovies and tuna blend together at the bottom of the pan

Dip the veggies and bread in the Banya Calda!

Our Steeler Club here in Maryland has eaten banya calda at all Steeler games for the past two seasons so it must bring Good Luck!

BBQ'ed Big Bens

Brown a lightly floured beef roast and a lightly floured pork loin in some extra virgin olive oil

Put in large pot, add cider vinegar (1 cup) 2 cups of Heinz ketchup, 1/4 cup Dijon Mustard, some brown sugar, molasses, several crushed cloves of garlic..Add one can of IC beer if you like to just cover the meat. Add Louisiana Hot sauce to taste.. More is better. Cover

Let this simmer from morning until game time.. Toast really good sesame and poppy seed rolls...

Shred the meat..and serve on buns..good with Cole slaw made with Marzetti's dressing, good with potato salad..good with BBQ baked beans..

SUPER BOWL WINGS

* Enough flour to dust 2 lbs of wings
* cajun seasoning
* 3/4 cup of your favorite bbq sauce (spicier the better)
* 2/3 cup of tabasco
* 2/3 cup of jack daniels
* tbls of vinegar
* 2 tbls of butter

Combine flour and seasoniong to gether, dust the wings by shaking them with the flour mixture in a bag

In a deep skillet use enough canola oil to cover wings and fry for about 8 minutes until wings are golden brown.

Over medium heat combine the rest of the ingredients in a sauce pan, bring to a light boil then simmer.

Once wings are cooked drain off excess oil place in a large bowl and toss with the sauce.

Then watch the Steelers destroy the Seahawks.
