This was a throw together pirogue that has worked out pretty well. The name simply comes from the dimensions. The length is 13' 1/2", width--top 34 1/2", and width--bottom is 28 1/2". The front rocker is 2 1/4", and the rear rocker is 3 1/4". Who knows, the rear may become the front. Anyway, it's a $50 boat.

looks like you have an inside rail at the top of the sides, is this not also attached to the side ribs?

interesting build, never seen one quite like that

what advantage is there to having the side ribs attached to the bottom chine and top rail ?

Since I build the frame from the bottom up it just kind of works out like this--bottom, add stems, add side ribs, then stretch top rail around, then add ply. I'll add a pic later.

I don't know if I would call it an advantage, but at least you can tie a rope or anchor between the rib and the luan. You have 8 different anchoring points.
