Anyone have any tips on rigging a transducer? Maybe the suction cup thing is good.

Quick - easy install

More complicated,
but neater

Remove ply from bottom and fill with a wood flour plug

Silicon a piece of PVC pipe in place

Sit transduce in pipe over woodflour plug. - fill pipe with water

Bit of pool noodle to hold in place

Easy and works a treat.

Does it have to be mounted on the centerline of the boat?

Nah, Long as it is in the water.

I had a rig that clamped to the gunnel of a canoe. I found two things. Having it toward the front is smarter than having the Xducer at the rear. It's better to know what's coming than what you've already run over.

Also, it wants to lie flat. Otherwise, you get a skewed view of the bottom.
