Installed a better tie down system for the "truck" boat today. I do not have the boat with me, but I know it will work because it is a stronger verson of what I had.
A snap and winch line to center the boat, and hold the boat against the tool box:

This what I did under the box:

Start the boat into the truck. Attach the rope to the stern's eye. Pull boat tight against the tool box. Tie rope off. Tie the bow rope to the truck and it is done.I have a long bow rope and a pully attached to the fornt deck and I tie both ends to keep the boat centered.

Does the boat slide in on a little cart with wheels?

Nah. That's what grandkids are for. They load it. I tie it.

Seriosly,It is not for pulling the boat into the truck. Just a handy and easy way to secue it. No need for multiple ropes or straps. No going from one side of the truck to the other and back, etc. I like simple.
