OK I'm lost Post #70 you say no stems in this build but the last pic looks have you have a stem. If that's not a stem, how are you holding the ends of the sides together?

Inner stem area. Not the best joint I've ever made. One layer of glass goes over stern joint and two over the bow joint. The start of the tapered chine ends corresponds to the area where the bottom line slopes up into the stem line. Lots going on in that area. Quite a bitch to fit.

This was one of the reasons for the hybrid build. This is the bow with about 6" more of free flowing shape to ease through the water. We'll see how that works.

I'm sure the half dozen or so love bugs encased in the epoxy won't help matters. GRRRRrrrrrrr..

Well, I knew ABOUT what it was going to look like. I did know that epoxy putty could be shaped to get me where I needed to be. I'm better able to do that type of thing than cutting accurate angles.

Breast hooks are in. No frills.....just some nice, clean sinker cypress. This is the bow. It looks huge but is only about 8-9" long. Never mind the black screws on the side. I'll replace them with SS.

Chines go on tomorrow.

While waiting for the gunnels to relax into their new curve, I started tapering the gunnel ends. Almost there. They'll end up about a quarter inch shy of each end and will be rounded off for a different look.

The last of the construction is done. I put one thinned coat of paint on the inside bottom. I'm waiting for the extra paint and varnish to arrive. She's at 55 lbs now. Maybe she'll gain a pound or two with the extra paint and varnish.

Looking good.:) You may have said, but what is the beam width? It looks very stable and its length should make for easy cruising.

First coat of varnish is on! I put a thinned coat of green oil based paint on the inside bottom. Something didn't go quite right. It's still a bit tacky after 2 days. Not quite sure what happened.

Thanks, Andy. I don't think I've ever seen a semi-painted interior like this anywhere. Come to think of it, I don't ever remember seeing a combination stitch and glue/chine log construction either. She's gonna be kind of a unicorn, for sure.

I just figured out a fitting name for this boat. I'll call her the "China Syndrome" due to the boredom caused by the shelter in place order caused by the corona virus.

Boat looks great. I like the simple and clean lines. The curved stems set it apart from normal.
Your design choices should serve you well.
