Be merry, friendly, and safe.

Our country likes to bring the year to an end with holidays. Sometimes, we get carried away in that process. No matter how each of us celebrates the seasons, it is our own, individual choice. No one tells us what we have to do, but some do offer suggestions and opportunitiex.

A sip or more of "Christmas cheer" can be part of our celebrating, and I enjoy that too. And, when I do enjoy it, I'm either already safe at home, or hand the car keys to Julie.

Lets be good friends to loved ones, friends, and neighbors. Smile to folks, shake their hands, and greet them in a friendly manner.

God bless us, one and all.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Thanks for the help and encouragement as I progressed from building UJ's to SS&G. Thanks Chuck for keeping us connected.
Monday will be the 45th anniversary of our LineBacker II operation. The beginning of the end, kind of bittersweet memories. Thanks to all who served.

And, thanks to you for your service too, Andy. The klaxon and a B-52 aren't family.

Sorry guys , but the Devil and Jacks post made me do this .........
A Klaxon might not be family but the Claxton Fruit Cakes are made by a family. I always get one for the holidays and then a box of the single sever ones for later during the year when out and about.
It's all about tradition.

My Dad was a fruitcake affectionado, Claxton being his favorite. I remember stopping in Claxton, GA in 1960 on the way home from Florida. The car smelled like fruitcake from GA to PA (+a couple weeks). That's not a complaint - just a fond memory.

My Mom baked fruitcakes that were good. Lots of butter spread onto a slice,; cuppa coffee to wash it down. I never understood the jokes about bad fruitcakes, because her's were so tasty. She put rum-soaked dishtowels around them, and added some more rum from time to time.
And, her raspberry pies were thick, not some dinky, little old thing.

Thanks, Bob san.

Are you cooking up a pot of stew for the holidays? We roasted a chicken, then made some chicken vegetable noodle soup. Home made noodles.
Jack, I do love a good stew, but if I grovel and beg enough I may get a big pot of Tortellini Soup for our Christmas Eve get together. I guess I need to go out and start setting out my Tortellini snares.Cleaning them is the pits, but they sure are good :))

SNIP ... I guess I need to go out and start setting out my Tortellini snares.Cleaning them is the pits, but they sure are good
I need to cleanup my tortellini snares; they're rusty. I can loan you some noodle snares, and a couple of donut traps. Also, Here's a good soup recipe:

4 sq ft of deer tracks, diced
2 pounds of that big fish that got away last August
Sweet corn, cut from a half dozen fresh ears from the farmstand that closed a week before you got there
1 pound of last spring's green onions, in 1/2" slices
1 pound of freshly dug carrots
2-3pounds of freshly dug potatoes, some dirt removed
Put it all into a 10 quart pail, add enough water-beer mix (50:50) to nearly fill
Bring to a boil on the right hand burner of a Coleman, 2 burner stove. Cover with a board or two, and simmer for two hours, stirring it every beer or so.
Let cool while you sip at least one more beer. Serve it up, and enjoy.

Well, if you don't count the deer tracks, fish, and veggies, yes. Now, deer tracks are rich in antoxidants, and . . . . .

Jack.....
I was told the antioxidants are determined by the ground where the tracks are retrieved from.
You forgot to tell everyone that if your recipe is cooked over petrified wood the heat lasts indefinitely compared to plain old wood which burns up and makes an ash of itself.
