    flooding

Sandy had a never before heard (by me at least) name of "Super Storm". I work in commercial property insurance, placing coverage for risks all over the country, but primarily in TX. That gives me plenty of experience with Tier 1 (Coastal) and Houston/Harris County, which is generally...

"Both forums" refers to JEM's and Old Sparkey's. Oldbuffpilot mentioned it above.

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Good idea to train with the blinders on, but better to actually practice in the soup. Maybe after you get better proficiency with blinders to make it a worthwhile practice session. My limited experience in actual IMC was substantially different than the hood.

    Sassafras 16 Lapstrake Canoe

A little like high school too. I saw a new post and thought we we're getting the build started. Feel like I was teased a bit!

    Emergency Fire Starter

I've used the exotac shown here and a Light My Fire and they both work well. Practice it recommended because it is technique driven, and also helps remove the coating on the steel which makes better sparks.. Another trick is to wipe the cotton ball in Vaseline, but that would make a mess in...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Thanks Jack, I always enjoy your write ups. They are entertaining and educational at the same time, and capture my imagination of the countryside you and Julie fly over. As a former Flight Instructor, I admirable your ability to describe the how's and why's of flying in terms that non pilots...

    yOU CAN FLIP A TRIKE.

Pretty funny. You should start a thread like Kayak Jack's Tales of "The Ruptured Duck" and sign of with "cheated dogs again"

    Kevlar?

Beekeeper, There is a guy (RealBigReel) on TKF that has built a number of "experimental" boats, including one with Balsa wood and Kevlar. Here is the link to that build: http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/foru ... t=ultimate He does a good job describing the build, so you might find something...

    Perry's Bayou Skiff Build

Great job on the boat! That exterior color is nearly perfect camouflage for fishing on the lawn. Pics size looks good to me.

    Best Bottom Protection/Maybe?

Beekeeper, you are doing a great job finding and using new (to me) graphite type coatings. If I have kept track correctly, you have used the following: 1) DIY mix of graphite and epoxy 2) Goop Coat It 3) EZ Slide 4) Rockite and Epoxy Have you used each of them enough to determine which works...
