    This weekend cooking....

It's getting cold out and I finally found a replacement lid for Grandma's old slow cooker. I've been using it every weekend since mid Sep. I'm going to do a potato soup this weekend since I have a couple half-empty 5 pound potato bags, russets and reds. I'm going to start with frying a pound...

    Hope and Change

I won't get into my opinions of our current President. But I believe this in my heart: Big businessmen don't like Obama. These are the guys that run major companies and that can control hiring and future job growth. I think they don't like... or maybe don't trust... Obama. So they hold back the...

    Cracked at the Gunnels

Powdered limestone? Not sure if that's the best thickener to use for a bonding application. Woodflour or fumed silica would be better.

My favorite time of the Year

I don't do any soup or gumbo cooking until I have a day without running the A.C.. Had a cool weekend 2 weeks ago and made my chicken noodle. The full pot didn't last past Sunday evening. This weekend looks to be nice. Since the wife and kids will be gone, I do some boat building instead.

    Pedal Paddling?

No that was a different guy with the funky shaped "pontoon" hull. I'd link to his site but I don't want to send any more traffic to him based on my personal interactions with him and his product. Others may have different experiences with him and his product.

    Pedal Paddling?

I can see the advantages too. If you're fishing and want to move while casting or slow trolling, it's a good way to move about while having the fishing rod still in your hands. Also, there's no paddle stroke to perfect. Just pump your legs and steer with your hand via the rudder control. A...

    Pedal Paddling?

It was moving but look at the pace the guy peddling. You have to have your legs in shape to hold that pace for very long. Biggest disadvantage: Your boat has to be customized for it.

    OK, JEM......

Great pictures! Regarding the screws, I don't see any harm in leaving them in the coaming. I'd cover with some epoxy to seal any possible moisture path. There's probably and extreme case argument for removing them but I can't think of any at the moment.
