Sounds a bit like a "camper trailer" which was actually a small box trailer with a plywood box atop of it to sleep in that a guy built and posted on a fishing forum over here (Oz). To skin the ply over it he used old bedsheets and bondcrete, dunno what the Merican term is for bondcrete but it...
Took this in Dubai Museum a year or so ago. Not a lot has changed hey. A one log boat, and a water tank in the background.
Third attempt at resizing this pic!
Cheers John
Ps the doubling effect at the top and down one side is probly my fault.
That's pretty steep looking water Joey, I noticed ya came back a lot quicker than you went. Just be careful no one steals yer camera ya big poser 8)
Cheers John.
Ps boat looks excellent, well done!
That's an interesting comment David. I reckon most of us that have built a boat would think the same. I spose if they were perfect we'd be proffesionals.
Almost there now just a few details to tidy up. Then Black lines top and bottom to straighten and re do. Quick scrape and paint inside and back on the water by mid week. :D
Regards John.
My build log on Jem's site had a bloke "Ismellsmoke" who posted from Texas Qld also. http://www.jemwatercraft.com/forum/view ... 1&start=20
He was deciding whether or not to build a Laker or Freedom. Don't know if or not he got around to a build but Texas Qld is not that big a place. You might...

Used tape inside and out so am confident its at...
But bamboo is NOT wood  Have thought for a long time that bamboo would (not wood) be a fantastic material for a lightweight and very strong boat.

If'n you're gonna get real nitty gritty on this then the first question has to be is there a min/max weight of paddler? As an example I cut an inch each off the height of the deck and the sides of a Laker. I coulda cut up to five or six inches, mebbe 8"! off easily and still had a serviceable...
Yeah look this keith an Seed pirogue thing is fine. They do build some beautiful Pirogues and fancy motorboats made out of sensational timber they steal from fishes but truth be told they probly ain't got the skills to make a kayak. I mean a pirogue is fine but its only 3/4ths of a kayak so...
I look forward to the day when geezers, and come to think of it chickens too will be allowed to go about their lawful daily business without having their motives questioned.
