HR,
My experience with the Crow Magnums parallel your own. There's no doubt that they expand better than any other pellet IF you have a gun that will shoot them accurately. So far I haven't found one that can even come close to tolerating them much less shoot them at the standard of accuracy I...
You oughta be safe-----'specially if your fishing or hunting. The folks here understand that. As a matter of fact I just came back inside. Been sitting on the deck talking with one of the pro level poachers of the area. He came up to glass the place across the river below the bluff and listen...
Thanks for letting me know---getting one right occasionally encourages me to keep trying.
As long as what you're using makes you happy-------------just a suggestion.
It gets slow at times---just check in occasionally to see if anything interesting has came up. And Welcome Aboard...
Suits me fine Chuck---thanx for the help.
And we hardly ever shoot at Sheriffs anymore in the Ozarks---even retired deputies. Now Revenooers-------------------
<What I would like to know is what the number stamped on the breach means? The number I’m referring to is stamped into the breech on the left side. The number is 3691H.>
The # you see is the year of inspection--written backwards---for all practical purposes the same as the year it was...
<Right - I've read about that before. Diablo pellets aren't intended for trans-sonic stability. I remember when I was a kid I used to muzzle load pellets into a daisy bb gun. They really worked quite well with no rifling at all.>
Yup----I have a smooth-bore Benjamin, M-340 IIRC, that is very...
What you've discovered is an object lesson in accuracy of the waisted pellet. It is no accident that the most accurate Olympic level target airguns shoot between 450 & 700 fps. So I'd be willing to bet that if you run your gun across a chronograph that you'll find it's shooting inside that range...
Just for fun I've reviewed this entire board over the last few days. One of the things that really struck me was some of Chucks' memories that were the fuel to start this particular campfire. So I've edited a selection of them---taking a few mild editorial liberties here and there. Forgive me...
Bob---true story------
A year or so ago a loudmouth showed up down on the river at our mutual buddys' place where my bud Kevin, who showed me the .22/airgun target idea, stays when he comes over from the 'left' side of the state to trout fish. There was a wee dab of beer drinking going on among...
Bob,
("Don't try this at home" or in 'civilized' areas!)
Brass Hell! A couple of years ago my airgunning buddy introduced me to a much better game. Thus:
Use a Marks-A-Lot to make + sighter marks on a piece of heavy corrugated cardboard. Using an awl or icepick puncture 10 holes in the...
Dammit! I just hit something wrong on my keyboard and lost an entire lengthy reply! :? A shorter version follows.
<The Williams peep sight was easy to zero in, and the rifle is easy to shoot.>
Hands down the best sighting system at airgun ranges! A scope on a multi-pump pneumatic is a...
Ron,
Much the same problem prevails with the earlier metal receiver as well. The real problem is that the interface of receiver and barrel isn't rigid. On guns with a solid barrel that can be overcame by mounting a pistol scope forward on the barrel itself but the 880 series has a 'soda straw'...
<Why put birdshot in a home defense shotgun when you can put in slugs or 00 buckshot? No, I have never seen anyone shot with birdshot at close range.>
And you don't want to!
<I have a good pal who gives me grief fer choosin' 00 fer my 870. He sez slugs...minimum. Hiz point iz 00 dont go thru...
While I'm sure that is a rhetorical question I'll stick my foot in anyway-------
I won't go so far as stating that the 'State' (government) controls media-----what I will do is say that both entities serve the same Master. Who is neither you or I nor the American people!
Per usual I'm late arriving at a discussion-------- :?
The problem with Mexico is exactly the same as all other countries that inherited a society and form of government as the result of having been a Spanish colonial possession.
Spanish officials were expected to be corrupt---perhaps a result...
Mike:
Do me a favor-----look to see the exact model # and whether the legend on the barrels sez 'Shorts Only' or "Shorts, Long & Long Rifle'. I'm trying to drag from the dim recesses of my memory the difference in models between the 'shorts' only model and the 'other' one without any luck and...
It's a deal-----if you won't ask about doing the same thing with pellet guns----but NOT off the roost. Tho if times get hard enough--------
Note: a GOOD pellet gun is both quieter AND more accurate than CBs.
Bear in mind that Remington had 'firsties' on that design producing the Models 24 & 241 before surrendering the rights that Browning then assumed.
The Remingtons were sweet shooters with the expected Remington accuracy. I've owned the Remington but not the Browning so I'm in no position to...
