electic motors without transom?

I used a mounting rig like those shown from an old FolBoat on a plastic canoe many years ago. It worked quite well. Enough to get slothful in my ways and reluctant to paddle. THAT IS A FINE LOOKING BOAT! Excellent job. Nockatee......planning on paddling some of that SC water soon.

It's That Time Of The Year

Pungent Pungent, they are! One summer job I had in the last century was toting block for the masons on a school construction site in Waynesville, NC. Turns out some of the mountain folk working there would have their breakfast which included RAMPS by the block pile. They ate them like a...

Style... You just have to be stylish when on the water, ya know. Only the proper yachting togs should be considered. :D [/img]

One more pic... Something goofed up when this one was copied.... Just another view of the inside of the hull. [/img] That folding Dyer chair in the background fits just right......I can see myself drifting along, kicked back, applying a touch with the paddle now and then and just...

    Project #1

A little progress.... Time for an update. Things slowed down for a couple of weeks, but the project is back on track. A warm spell last week allowed me to get the boat outside and apply some penetrating resin on the hull. Bottom is on and now ready for attaching the keel which is structural...

    New build - first build

Reds are running So, what is the progress on the "twins"? I was in Savannah this weekend and someone was talking about catching some nice reds.

    Tape both sides???

Whoo, boy. Didn't mean to stir things up so. Still, the discussion is educational for a novice builder like myself. Here is a crudely doctored picture illustrating where internal chines are and fillet at the ply junction is located. Of course, the two layers of tape are on the entire length...

    Tape both sides???

I was afraid that would be the answer. Oh, well. Need to find a few bucks for some more resin. Thanks!

    Tape both sides???

Yes That is correct. Also, the middle 5.5 ft of the bottom panel is securely attached with glue and nails to an internal chine log on each side. I will try to get pics up tomorrow.

    Tape both sides???

I have placed the bottom sheet on my punt. The middle 5.5ft on each side has inside wales and the bottom is glued and nailed as well as glued and nailed on the 4 bulkheads and stem and stern pieces. The seams where ply meets ply have been joined with a decent filet of resin in the inside and two...

Gassed out! Put some Smith's penetrating resin on some raw wood today. It is pretty stinky stuff! Bad enough to have to pull the project completely out of basement to clear the air. I had a fan blowing out the door when working with the stuff, but even then a woozy feeling snuck up on me...

Baby steps.... Still dinking away. Did something to my left elbow, so I have slowed down a bit. Darned "Geezer" parts! I do most of my beer mug hoisting with the right hand so that couldn't be the reason:lol: Should have some pics showing the progress before long.

    Uncle John's Pirogue - Pictures

Good stuff...Ultraply Coming right along! I have enjoyed working with the Ultraply. I debated on putting the Luan on the inside as the opposite material "seems" harder and might deflect hits better. Might do that on the bottom since I'm only taping the seams and not covering the whole...

Cold Night and a huge moon on the Brazos

Incoming.... Chuck, I think they refer to properly prepared "dillo" as "POSSUM ON THE HALF SHELL". Makes them think they are getting sea food so far inland. Ooh, I meant to say SEA KITTENS. Good trip report, by the way.

    Freezer Bag Cooking

While waiting on some resin to set, here I sit drooling, looking at all these baudacious recipes, with my belly growling. To the wife's dismay, the old man may be messing in her kitchen. Some of you may already have seen this site, but I was intrigued with the method of cooking and food...

    New guy-giving a shout out

Welcome aboard! Welcome! I'm a noob here as well, but can assure you this is a quality bunch. I just finished an application of glass and resin on my project a few minutes ago. This boat building is fun and a good break from riding. Beemer.....I've had an Airhead, Brick and F series...

    Project #1

Back in business... Back in the saddle again! Placed the first application of resin and glass to join the side panels and bottom sheets. My basement stays a steady 58 this time of year. I'm thinking it will take some time for the goo to set with medium hardener. Since this is the first time I...

    Brrr, it's cold

Patince Grasshopper Ooohh it's hard to be patient. Put my first application on joining panels today. Basement sits at 58 pretty consistently, but with medium hardener it will take 24-36 hrs from what I can tell. Baby steps........
