    The half/quarter pirogue

Since I build the frame from the bottom up it just kind of works out like this--bottom, add stems, add side ribs, then stretch top rail around, then add ply. I'll add a pic later. I don't know if I would call it an advantage, but at least you can tie a rope or anchor between the rib and the...

    The half/quarter pirogue

The luan on the sides is only attached to the chine logs, middle ribs, and stem.

    The half/quarter pirogue

This was a throw together pirogue that has worked out pretty well. The name simply comes from the dimensions. The length is 13' 1/2", width--top 34 1/2", and width--bottom is 28 1/2". The front rocker is 2 1/4", and the rear rocker is 3 1/4". Who knows, the rear may become the front...

    Pirogue Renovation

Yeah, I was just copying a style that I have fished out of before. It works really well in most situations and it's relatively easy to control in the wind. The newer one is more stable than the reno; however, the older one is much lighter. I aim to build one just as light or lighter than the...

    Pirogue Renovation

It was well worth the work. Surprisingly, the boat was in good shape for being 15+ and stored in the weather. It's a marine plywood job, and the wood is beautiful with the gloss coat.

    Pirogue Renovation

A little sanding, fiberglassing, varnishing, and fun. Any of the green paint that I couldn't get off, I call character.

    2nd build w/ rocker & flare

My Bro-In-Law now officially has the pirogue. He painted her rather patriotic and has her stored well. He took out all four of his younguns, and they had a blast. By the way, I didn't put the clunky bow and stern pieces on there. I was going to put a small thin piece. Oh well. It is his to...

    2nd build w/ rocker & flare

Bee, I used the pattern riser from the last boat to draw a line that would represent what I wanted on the 1 x 4. Then I used a reciprocating saw to get the shape and then the flap disc to form. Top
