Well, I might be getting the cart before the horse but I am starting to look for plans for the next project. I haven't even finished the pirogue I started 18 months ago . What I think I would like , and what will work might be too different things and I'm hoping the folks here with more...

Depending on the size you want to catch. Smaller, what we call "skinners" we use worms, shrimp, stink bait(rarely) or helgramites. If we want larger ones we use shad or blue back herring. Larger fish will be more like a preadator than a scavenger, blue catfish especially. Channel cats not so...

I have gotten the bottom on My UJ pirogue and it fits fairly well. There is a place or two that needs to be tightened up and I plan to "sticch and glue ". Do I filllet across the wires ? What do I do with the wire when I am finished, try to remove them of just cut them off and sand over them?

We haven't been able to do much lately because of other commitments but have a little time now to move forward. Originally we made four ribs as per the plans for a wider bottom. When we placed them in the sides at what we thought looked right it made the bottom wider than what we wanted so...

Took seedtick's advice, cut out the scarf, re-scarfed, glued ,screwed, weighted and waiting now for the glue to dry. As we are waiting we are working on the ribs and gussets. We bought just the plans but now I wonder if the kit with stems and ribs would have been money well spent. Oh well...
