I wanted a fast and convenient way to tie off my anchors without wrapping around a standard cleat and finishing off with a hitch. Wannabe sent me a picture of a easy pvc jam cleat. (Thanks Wannabe) The pvc just looked out of place on a wood boat. After a little surfing I found what I think is the perfect set-up. Hard core sailors no doubt are familiar with the jam cleat. One side looks like a standard cleat with a smooth curve that's easy on the rope. The other side is cut to form an acute angle that jams the rope without causing any damage.
You just pull the rope around the lower side of the cleat and wrap it over the top and pull down through the upper side and it holds fast.
I can come up to a good fishing spot , tug on the rope tag ends and drop both anchors and be ready to fish in just a few seconds. Weighing anchor is just as quick.
