I haven't seen guys talking about building a perfect boat - only a better boat. Until Too Busy brought in the different kinds of fabric for scuff resistance, we were basically talking tensile strength resistance to breakage on the inside. The extra info about scuff resistance is good to know; I didn't know that.

There is more meat in this thread than Southern Paddler Average (SPA).

I also want to repeat that prevention of breakage to wood with stronger fiber on the INSIDE, is perfectly analogous to prevention of breakage in a tent floor by putting a ground cloth or plastic liner on the inside of the tent. If it comforts you, you can also have one outside.
