Coogs, no matter what Chuck tries to tell you, Chili does NOT contain: gree-itz, Viennie snausages, okra, tofu, macaroni & cheese, or Ritz crackers.

I've never found a brand of canned chili that doesn't taste like a tin can more than it does like what it was supposed to taste like. I'd rather cook a beef roast, dice it fairly small, 3/8 inch or so, and dehydrate it, vac-pack it with dried onion, chili powder, cayenne, garlic, dried tomato sauce, and a couple of unwrapped bullion cubes.

"Stag" brand mate.

comes in several degrees from mild to hot and there is allways the option of adding some more chillies to the brew.

Very, very good camping tucker. 8)

Friend Coog,

The last canned chili I cooked wuz a gallon of Desert Storm chili...with beans. I added Zatarains cuz I always have it on me. I tote it in concealed carry size. We keep a shaker by the stove 'n a shaker in both pickups. Zatarains not only adds cayene, but garlic 'n some other fine seasonings. Sometimes I mix my own like 50% Zatarains 20% white pepper 20% cumin 'n 20% file.

At my age, I've seen it all, done it all, and heard it all; I just can't remember it all. Anonymous

Canned Chili ?????

I cook a big batch of chili and after we are done with it , I put the left overs in Zip Lock Bags and freeze them.
I do the same with beef stew , chicken noodle soup and veggie soup home made naturally.

Going to go camping , get a log of chili and pack it , at camp defrost and reheat then enjoy it.
For a one night camping trip , wrap the bag of chili in newspapers , it will stay good till supper time , longer trips , in the small ice chest and since it is frozen it helps to keep the rest cool. Some ice in there does not hurt anything , just take the bag of chili out before you get hungry so it can defrost.

Chuck.

That zip lock bag thing is a good idea. I would never thought about
that. I usually make my own, but it was on sale for .99 cents. How could
I pass that up? Went back to get some more, but it was all gone! Shock
I always add some hot sauce and garlic and salt&pepper, and a little
malt vinegar to give it a little kick. Sometimes hot dogs get cut up
and tossed in, but I won't admit it.

Boy iz that a mystery. My Mom tole me that when I made red beans 'n rice (kinda like Popeye's), jest before ya stop cookin', add a tablespoon 'er two of cider vinegar. I dont know where she come up with that, but that iz near bout the best surprize in cookin'. Mebbe it iz the beans? Mebbe that iz why it helped yer chili....if it had beans? I like cider vinegar. All the fancy vinegar iz okay, but plain ole cider vinegar still does the job fer me. I reckon if I look at Mister Google there will be a vinegar festival somewhere. I hope it iz near a river. One of these days I jest mite drop by. I seen they got a garlic festival way out in California.

I took Miz Bear ta gamble with Ole Blue Duck today. Ate at the Paula Dean cafe at Harrah's in Tunica. http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/grand-ca ... etail.html
Cost too much, but it wuz danged good. I ate my fill of raw oysters, some shrimp, veal cutlet, fried catfish (bad), smashed taters 'n barbecue with Miz Paula's spicy sauce. [It had a good bit of bark in it.] Yep, I hurt myself.

Crap table wuz too rich fer my blood so I jest drank tequila in a glass with salt on the edge 'n played video poker at the bar. It wuz so cold some of the old folks had on coats. The muzak wuz so bad I had ta walk outside 4-5 times, but they blare it outside too. I asked the security guard how ta git away frum the rap 'n heavy metal. He looked kinda sad 'n sez "nowhere round here....even in the parkin' lot".

I spent some time outside on the bridge lookin' at the giant gator gars, catfish, buffalo 'n turtles. There wuz two giant turtles that musta weighed in at 75 pounds. Head looked like one a Jewish fella's rat. Saw my first black gator gar. The Jordaniares 'n some Elvis folk will be there fer a tribute next month.....on Independence Day, Al Green 'n Gladys Knight. I reckon they didnt wanna spring fer the Pips. The Commodores will be down in Greenville. I reckon they got a Barry Manilow museum somewhere. I bet they freeze him so they kin thaw him out 'n torture ragheads a hunerd years frum now?

I reckon my kinda crap game aint in the casinos. I git bored there, but watchin' folks dumb gamble (roulette 'n crazy bets at the crap table) iz always fun.
