We learned about making jerky out of ground meat after a trip to Bass Pro Shop. Had no idea you could do that, even bought a kit: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog. ... rchResults
BUT you don't need the kit. Spice it, roll it out between
2 sheets of wax paper, cut into strips and dry on racks (cookie
cooling racks) in oven on lowest heat. You can use cookie sheets but
they say that's frying, not drying. Might work on just the oven racks
but they may be too far apart for ground meat jerky.

I also use the fiberglass window screen to lay items on. Air flows up through it nicely, washes easily in the sink, and contains even squishy stuff like cooked squash.

Oh - BTW - try drying some cooked squash. Then, cut it into small pieces so it will rehydrate easier. Add only enough hot water to get a properly smushy consistency, butter, and a smidgen of salt. Tasty!

This is from someone who does not like grits....... Eating squishy , smushy, cooked squash. Everyone knows squash is a lot better sliced nice and thin and served in a salad. That is some good eating. :D

Jack.... As I recall you made some turkey jerky a while back .... Right??????
"O" ....... Bridal Vail works really good when drying veggies, just cut it to fit the dehydrator trays and nothing falls thru, cleans up in a flash and it can be used a lot of times. Been using the same ones for a couple of years.

Chuck.

Chuckie uses that because he can't spell "Cheese cloth". But then, if you look close, he can't spell bridal veil either. (Or, is it bridle vale?)

lessee now - rise, rose, risen - squeeze, squoze, squizzen

Yep - thas right! Gotta get them past-perfect conjugalizations down right.

Ya been starin' at them girlie spots too long, Kym gal. Set back a bit, toss another log on the fire, and sip some single malt. Squarsh is a sweet vegetable, sorta like my last sweetheart, only more orangey colored. A bit more grainy, too.
