AU$1.69 per kilo this morning at the local barter type markets for home grown organic Roma tomatoes

Big chain supermarkets - $5.49 for similar jobbies only not organic

Guess where I shop? :D

i don't buy 'maters this time of year, too early

i just wait until others see my sorry garden, feel sorry for me and give me 'maters from their garden :D

Reckon they make tomatoes in a factory nowadays....in China? We may have two generations who dont know what a tomato iz supposed ta taste like....same fer strawberries.

I tend to agree with Seedtick. Buying tomatoes out of season is about a waste of time. There are some at Publix that are sold as "tomatoes on the vine" that are half decent and three quarters expensive. Better to wait, or get 'em out of a can like Chuck said.

Preferably from Georgia, where all the finest things in life can be found. :D

$1.69 / kilo AUS seems like a DEAL. Particularly for local grown. But they are probably still in season down under... March is late summer for you guys, right?
