Saw something on YouTube and had to give it a try.
I've been fixing the Old Fashion Oatmeal in the mornings.
I use 1/2 cup of the Oatmeal to 1 cup of water. To that I add a serving of dried Cranberries or Blueberries and one teaspoon of sugar.
Cook it for 5 minutes and have a hot breakfast.
Now .. I saw where a person fried up some Oatmeal and used it as a topping. They used it in the porage they were making and keep some as a topping.
I decided to only use it as a topping and it picks up the Oatmeal.
Take 1 , 1/2 cups of the old Fashion Oatmeal and 4 tablespoons of salted butter.
Melt the butter and when it's melted switch to a medium heat and add the Oatmeal. Stir it till it turns a nice shade of brown ( mine was about 5 or so minutes). You may like it longer or not , it's cooks choice.
I cook the Oatmeal the normal way with the fruit and when it's in the bowl I add a spoon full ( or 2 ) to it as a topping. It gives the Oatmeal a buttery and crunchy addition.
I keep it in a air tight container on the shelf it should last 5 or so days.
The information is at the 3:22 mark.
