The Girandoni Air Rifle used by Lewis & Clark...... About a 7 minute video of the history of it and how it was used.
Dial up folks will hate this.

A 46 Cal that would fire 40 rounds from the stored up air pressure , rapid fire and each round would penetrate a 1 inch pine board at 100 yards.
Our Air Rifles are stone throwers compared to this one , even the new Benjamin that is a rapid fire in 177 and 22 cal from one pressurized fill up.

If you would like to read a good book about Lewis and Clark, get "First Across the Continent". Disregard Ambrose's book; he's a weak author.
