Ozark - I like the humor. But, in case you asked the question in earnest, here's the answer. Michigan is made up of two peninsulas, lower and upper. The upper peninsula is referred to here as the U.P. Residents got the nickname of Yoopers.
The Mackinaw Bridge connects the two peninsulas. Yoopers call us lower peninsula types "Trolls" because we live beneath the bridge.
Piper San is originally a Yooper, and is now a Webfoot. sigh I like him anyway.

Actually a YOOPER is a sort of black-bear bait. Some are smelly and slow-moving and spend a lot of time where the bears are......just the ticket.
