Just a day paddle today out at Presque Isle here in Marquette. We paddled over to the Picnic Rocks area in 2 - 4+ foot waves and had a blast. I also had the chance to test out the helmet cam that I rigged up.

I posted some video of the most exciting part of the day, when a 2 or 3 foot wave caught me by surprise:

Here's the helmet cam:

Yes, it's waterproof, a Pentax Optio W30.

And, yes, you have to reach up and turn it on, then trigger the picture taking button. It helps to have the volume turned up on the camera so you can hear the beeps. Otherwise, if you're wearing a helmet in conditions worth taking video, it's difficult to take the helmet off, start the camera, then put it back on.

In the video, you can see my finger on the lens right after the roll. I was reaching up to push the helmet straight on my head and make sure I still had my sunglasses.

I only have a 1GB card in the camera right now. I'm planning on getting an 8GB card, then I can just turn it on and leave it on for extended periods of time.
